Reel Green at Primetime in Ottawa
On February 21, 2008, Gordon Hardwick, Manager of Community Affairs was invited to speak at "The Need to Go Green in the Production Sector" panel during the Canadian Film and Television Producers' Association Primetime Conference in Ottawa. In its 13th year, Prime Time explores timely topics related to the current state of the production industry in Canada.
The "Go Green" session was moderated by Trish Dolman, President/Producer, Screen Siren Pictures and included panellists: Shelley Billik, VP Warner Bros. Entertainment (who also provided the engaging Keynote Address at Lunch), Gordon Hardwick who spoke about REEL GREEN BC; Mary Young Leckie, Executive Producer, TV series MVP who discussed MPV's grassroots approach to environmental practices; Candida T. Paltiel, Festival Director, Planet in Focus International Environmental Film & Video Festival who spoke about the funding received by the Toronto Green Screen Committee for the development of a green strategy for the Ontario production community and Peter Wintonick, Producer/Director who shared information about the Green Code Project and the role of documentary filmmakers in helping to communicate the green message. The BC Film Commission also wants to let you know that over the past few months, the REEL GREEN website has been updated. Check out the new GREEN CONTACTS section that lists companies who may be able to provide more environmental sustainable services to your production. As well, the BCFC Industry Contacts section now provides a GREEN SERVICES listing of motion picture service companies who have developed and/or are implementing an environmental stewardship strategy for their operation.
