Vancouver, B.C. - The VIFF's 26th annual Film + TV Forum is just around the corner. It all starts September 27with NETWORKING Day, continues September 28 with FACTUAL Day, then features FILM Day, September 29 and TV Day, September 30. The week concludes on a high note with New Filmmakers' Day, October 1. "By concentrating our programming into thematic streams we can offer Vancouver filmmakers a creative, stimulating and very affordable opportunity to make a real connection with film and television's decision makers, innovators, and trendsetters." says Helen du Toit, the Forum's Creative Director.
Got a concept for an innovative new reality, lifestyle or documentary program? Well prove it! On FACTUAL Day, we're proud to host Charlie DeBevoise, Executive Producer at NorthSouth Productions and the brains behind Say Yes to the Dress on the panel Proving Your Concepts Visually. Stephen Harris, Director, Non Fiction and Alternative Programming, A&E Television Network provides the broadcasters' perspective. Get the scoop on sizzle reels, casting tapes, pilots and demos all designed to sell the show without bankrupting the house.
On FILM Day, Director Thom Fitzgerald, The Hanging Garden, Three Needles and the recently premiered road-movie and love story, Cloudburst is featured alongside Director, Patricia Rozema, Mansfield Park, Kit Kittredge: An American Girl on Directing Essentials. Don't miss their lively discussion about how sound, music, tone and editing all combine to create powerful storytelling.
Joining the TV Day line-up is Matt Loze, Senior VP of Programming, Fox Television Studios on Co-venturing with the US. Loze is well known to the Vancouver TV industry through his role as senior production executive for Trilogy Entertainment on the series The Outer Limits and Poltergeist: The Legacy. More talent abounds on Collective Brain: The Writer's Room panel with Rick Cleveland, Co-Executive Producer, Scoundrels, Nurse Jackie and Six Feet Under and Aaron Zelman, Writer, The Killing, Damages, Criminal Minds as they provide a window into the creative process.
The 26th Annual Vancouver Film + TV Forum takes place at the Rogers Industry Centre at the Vancouver International Film Centre, 1181 Seymour Street, September 27 - 30, plus New Filmmakers' Day, October 1.
