The Whistler Film Festival is calling for Submissions for our 11^th Festival, taking place November 30 to December 4, 2011.

We’re looking for independent films of all shapes and sizes demonstrating distinct visions, unique perspectives and fresh new voices. The Festival will feature up to 80 films comprised of about 40 features and 40 shorts.

The $15,000Borsos Competition for Best Canadian Feature presented by the Directors Guild of Canada, British Columbia, celebrates independent vision, original directorial style and the diversity of talent found in Canadian independent film. The $10,000 New Voices International Feature Competitionwill showcase innovative and original narrative films from around the globe by directors with their first or second feature.

Whistler is an inspiring and intimate meeting place for filmmakers and film lovers alike to watch films, network, generate new business partnerships, and to explore current industry issues and future trends. Last year’s guests included Indie cult icon Monte Hellman (Two-Lane Blacktop), Bruce McDonald with the World Premiere of Hard Core Logo II, the award-winning director of Attenberg and producer of Oscar nominated Dogtooth Athina Rachel Tsangari, actors Bruce Greenwood, Tygh Runyan, and Callum Keith Rennie, filmmakers Atom Egoyan, Jim Sheridan, Ron Mann, Larysa Kondracki, Daniel Cross, and Philippe Falardeau, as well as industry veterans Luc Dery, Bingham Ray, Don Carmody, and Steven Gaydos (Variety).

From the personal to the political, the World Documentary Competition will introduce international documentary feature films, while the shortwork Competition and theStudent shortwork Competition present extraordinary talent, dynamism and creative exploration found in the work of some of the world’s most interesting filmmakers.
