US Market Accelerator Program

With sponsorship from BC Film and MPPIA, CMPA-BC is coordinating a program designed for film and television professionals interested in obtaining market intelligence in preparation for expanding their business in the Los Angeles market. This training intensive will provide participants with an overview of the current environment, as well as one-on-one time with market experts who will evaluate the participant’s projects and offer an assessment and feedback on suitability for the American/LA marketplace. In addition, participants will receive travel assistance in support of a business trip to Los Angeles.

Program Objectives

·         Prepare participants to bring their projects to the LA market and develop relationships with US-based production companies, studios, financiers and distributors;

·         Increase the number of BC-US co-ventures, focusing on the BC producer’s involvement in the ownership of the project’s intellectual property.

Program Overview

Part One:  Intensive, 2 day workshop session with Los Angeles and Vancouver based Industry/Market experts. The sessions will be held during business hours on Tuesday, June 7 and Wednesday June 8, 2011 in Vancouver.

Part Two:  Post June workshop, producer participants receive a bank of consultation time with an LA Based market expert to prepare for a business trip to LA. In addition, travel assistance will be provided in support of a trip to LA within 6 months of the workshop session.

Confirmed industry guests include Benedict Carver from Dark Hero Studios, Robin Gurney from Imagine Television, Mimi Steinbauer from Hyde Park International and Peter Wetherall from Magus Entertainment.
