If you’re 19 to 25 years old, can you make your friends do a 180 with their bad driving habits? Can you do it in 180 seconds or less? Show the world by making a three-minute film addressing one of three key safety issues: speeding, impaired driving, or the use of cellphones/electronic devices while driving.

About the ICBC 180 short-film contest

Problem

Car crashes are the number one preventable killer of 19 to 25 year olds.

Solution

If you’re 19 to 25 years old, can you make your friends do a 180 with their bad driving habits? Can you do it in 180 seconds or less? Show the world by making a three-minute film addressing one of three key safety issues: speeding, impaired driving, or the use of cellphones/electronic devices while driving.

Eligibility

  • 19 to 25 years old
  • B.C. residents

Film categories

  • excessive speed
  • impaired driving (including drugs)
  • distracted driving (cell phone use and texting)

Criteria

  • 60 to 180 seconds of original material
  • any medium – clay animation, animation, live action, etc.
  • must address one of three film categories referenced above
  • adherence to community standards (no course language, inappropriate sexual content, etc.)

How to enter

Set up an account on YouTube and post your entries at: www.180filmcontest.com.

Winners will be announced at a public screening event in February 2011 in Vancouver.
