VICTORIA – As announced on Jan. 25, 2008, the Province intends to increase the basic Film Incentive BC Tax Credit rate to 35 per cent from 30 per cent and the basic Production Services Tax Credit rate to 25 per cent from 18 per cent.

The following bulletin clarifies, subject to approval by the legislative assembly, the intended application of the increased Production Services Tax Credit and the Film Incentive BC Tax Credit to current and future productions:

• For projects currently in production (principal photography began before Jan.1, 2008), the higher credit rates apply to qualified labour costs incurred after Dec. 31, 2007.
• For productions with principal photography that begins after Dec. 31, 2007 and before Jan. 1, 2010, the higher credit rates apply to qualified labour costs incurred after Dec. 31, 2007.
